High-tech Parking to Appear in Sanur

On the Bangsai Beach in Sanur, a multi-level parking facility for motorcycles is being built. The structure will be six-tiered, with an automatic lift for raising and moving vehicles. The construction is expected to be completed by the end of October.

According to Sanur head Ida Bagus Sudirahardja, the system is similar to those already used in Jakarta: the driver leaves the motorcycle on a platform, and the operator does the rest. The parking is designed to accommodate 500–600 vehicles, with each level having a height of 1.8 meters.

The project is being implemented by a private contractor on a 10-year contract, after which the facility will be transferred to the management of the local administration. The cost of construction is about 6 billion rupiahs. The parking will operate 24/7, and the rates are still being discussed.

The need for such a facility arises from a severe shortage of spaces near Bangsai Beach: around 10 out of the 46 planned establishments are currently operating along the coast. Sudirahardja expressed hope that the new parking will alleviate road congestion, reduce traffic jams, and enhance safety — making it very difficult to steal a motorcycle or helmet here.
